I was born and grew up in Spain. At the age of twenty one, I moved to London with the intention of staying for a couple of months and learning some English. I ended up living in England for the next 30 years, regularly travelling back to Spain to reconnect and stay in touch with my family, language and culture. I am currently living in Ireland.

I have been passionate about language and languages since my teenage years. While staying in London, as well as working and gaining experience in a number of different fields, in 1996, I successfully completed my BA in English and Linguistics and was awarded an upper second class honours degree.

Subsequently, after a few years working in areas such as Retail, Hospitality, Market Research and Education, in 2007, I qualified as a professional translator by achieving the Level 7 CIoL (Chartered Institute of Linguists) Diploma in Translation in English into Spanish.

I have been a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (MCIL) since 2017.

I began translating in the mid-90s and I have been a full-time freelance translator since 2014, when I decided to start my Root and Stem Translations business.

My main areas of interest and experience include Education, Linguistics, Literature, Market Research (consumer and pharmaceutical), Marketing, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology.  If you would like to find out more about my academic and professional background, please feel free to visit my LinkedIn (https://ie.linkedin.com/in/rootstemtranslations) profile.
